Pastor Chad Young was called to Gibson Baptist in January 2022. He came to faith in Jesus Christ in February 2000 and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Starkville, MS. He married Kaisa in 2005, and they have two children, Micah & Ada. 

Pastor Chad is a bivocational pastor, spending some of his work week as a Professor of Physics at Nicholls State University; he has worked there for almost 20 years.  He has a Master of Divinity from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, a PhD (in astronomy) from University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor's degree in physics from Mississippi State University.

He loves to run, swim, bike, camp, and travel with his family. In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking and hanging out with his dog, Rubi.
